1. How long does it take for a secret submitted to be posted to the blog?

At the moment, 5 days.

We are posting secrets from now-October 2010 at the moment. September-August 2010 will be posted along with new secrets received.

2. Can you see the names of the people who submit secrets? / Are secrets anonymous?

No. The submission form for secrets is anonymous. All we receive is the secret by email and nothing else. So no tumblr names, no IP addresses. It’s completely anonymous.

3. Are all secrets submitted posted?

The aim of The Secret Blog is to publish every single secret. So we take particular care in not deleting or skipping secrets sent to us. We believe that everyone who submits to this blog wants someone to listen, so as a secret posting blog, it would be wrong of us to only publish the best ones. We believe that it is wrong to judge secrets on this basis and everyone deserves a chance for their say.

However, we do not publish secrets about bands, musicians or movie quotes. So secrets saying “I love A____ B____” will not be published. Likewise, Mean Girls quotes or quotes from anything else which is clearly not serious, will not be published. We believe that these take away the seriousness of the blog and are harmful to those who use this blog as a way of expressing things they can’t.

4. Can commenting on secrets be anonymous?

Yes. If it asks for an email address or username and you do not wish to use your real one, simply make it up.

5. How do I submit a secret?

6. Why did you start The Secret Blog?

I originally started this blog as a unhappy and disenchanted follower of other secret posting blogs. After waiting about 3 months for a secret I posted to finally be submitted, I was just reminder of how horrible I felt back then. I didn’t feel any closure. I wanted to make a new blog where every secret would be published and there would be limited waiting. I have attempted to do this by keeping the blog updated everyday and asking moderators to help me in posting, so that it has a faster turn around.

7. Who decides what makes it to the blog and what doesn’t?

The person on the inbox at the time of reading a secret. They should be deciding that it does make it to the blog, as mentioned in question 3 we post every one. However, they may decide not to post it for the reasons expressed in question 3.

8. Why wasn’t my secret posted? / You never post my secrets.

This is a question that we get frequently. We also get it sent to the secret submission page. There isn’t much to say except it was posted. As expressed in question 3, we post them all.

We receive on average 100+ a day, we aim to post 100+ in a day. So it could be a simple fact that you cannot find your secret, due to how many in a day are posted.

9. I can’t find my secret.

If you cannot find your secret, you could try looking on our archives. Go to http://www.secretsblog.tumblr.com/archive, type in a key word you used in your secret, something that makes it unique. Then try the search. Sometimes this doesn’t work though, which is tumblrs problem, not the fact that we haven’t posted it. So please do not send us hate mail, we are trying our hardest.
